After conducting hundreds of user interviews, I'm beyond convinced that we can get tremendous value from talking to users at every stage of a project. I encounter the most skepticism around talking to users before we have a concept or prototype to get feedback on, but that's my favorite kind of research to do. I recently wrote an article for the User Interviews blog to share the process I use to plan that kind of early stage user research.
